3rd Oxford University Chess Congress, 26-27 April 2003

Last Edited: Friday May 2, 2003 4:57 PM

Peter Harrison and Richard Palliser report: Once again this event at Lincoln College proved to be an enjoyable and successful event. With over 50 players it was for once the Major, and not the Minor, which turned out to be the largest section. The Open was very strong on paper with one GM and four IMs, but IM Nick Pert always led before finishing a whole point clear. However, just as impressive were the excellent performances of the University's own Andrew Bigg and 165-graded, but fast improving, Aidan Rawlinson.
