COMPANY INFORMATION
British Chess Magazine Ltd (universally known as "BCM") is a
UK-registered company. The magazine itself, which is the oldest in the
world, was founded in 1881, incorporated in the 1930s and has been in
monthly production without a break for 125 years. As well as the magazine,
we have been selling chess goods for over half a century, and goods relating
to other games for the past three years. We are dedicated to providing

PURCHASING FROM BCM
You may purchase chess, bridge and other game products via our website
(www.bcmchess.co.uk) and its secure shopping cart facility; also, by telephone
(020 7486 8222), by fax (020 7486 3355) or in person at our shop (44 Baker
Street, London W1U 7RT, opening hours Monday to Saturday 10am - 6pm).
HOW TO PAY
We accept credit and debit card payment in pounds sterling (GBP). We accept
Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, American Express and Switch/Solo. We
do not charge for any item until it is ready to be delivered. Our online
ordering system is secure throughout transmission: nevertheless, if you
prefer not to supply your credit card details online, you may send them
separately via phone, fax or post.
POSTAGE/PACKING
Cost depends upon your location and the value of goods ordered.
UK Postage
Chess Computers: please add £6.50 for portables, £7.95
for others (next day service excluding weekends). For special Saturday
delivery the price is £9.95.
Chess Software: please add £1.50 per item.
All other items: add 10% postage/packing. Minimum postage £1.00.
Overseas Postage
Add 20% postage/packing except for software and computers which are
double the UK rates quoted above per item. Minimum postage £2.00.
DELIVERY
We aim to despatch orders from stock within 1 to 2 working days of receipt
of your order and in any case within a maximum of 5 working days. If we
are unable to supply all or part of your order within 5 working days we
will notify you and give a likely delivery date. Working day means Monday
to Friday.
Delivery schedules quoted also apply from Monday to Friday only. e.g.
goods despatched by next day service on Friday will be delivered on Monday,
not Saturday.
BACK ORDERS
If your item is not in stock goods will be placed on back order for you
and supplied as soon as they become available. You will be emailed with
the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
TAX CHARGES
All prices are quoted in GB pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.
A VAT receipt accompanies all goods.
CREDIT CARD SECURITY
All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is
placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach
our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.
GUARANTEE
All goods are insured in transit. Any damage claim must be made within
2 days of receipt of the goods. All goods remain the property of British
Chess Magazine Ltd until paid for. Goods are not sold on a trial basis;
we only accept returns if goods supplied are faulty or damaged on arrival.
Goods may be returned for replacement if received damaged or faulty. Proof
of posting must be obtained by you. We request that you contact us before
returning anything for authorization and advice on the correct procedure. Magazine subscriptions with less than 12 months to run cannot be refunded.

REMITTANCE TERMS
Payment must accompany your online order in the form of your credit or
debit card details. We also accept cheques and postal orders in GB pounds.
