The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Richard FurnessThe Monarch Assurance PLC 13th International Chess Tournament took place at the Ocean Castle and Imperial Hotels, Port Erin, Isle of Man, from Saturday 25 September to Sunday 3 October 2004. This is the official tournament home page, run by British Chess Magazine, webmaster - editor, British Chess Magazine.

The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Richard Furness (photo right)

Prizes: £2500, £1500, £1000, £800, £600, £500, £400, £300, £250: Total prize fund £16,500

BCF Centenary Rating Prize for an English BCF Member - £1000. Unique!
Prizes of £200, for players rated 1801-2000, 2001-2200, 2201-2300, 2301-2400.
All the rating prizes are each for the best improvement in rating using k=10.
Best score by an unrated player £100
Prizes of £200, for the best score by a Senior (over 60), Female, Under 18, Manx.
If there is only one entry in such categories, the player must score at least 3/9 in order to be awarded this prize.
Slow Starter Prize £100: For the best score by a player starting with 1/3 or less
Best Game Prize £500

Schedule: Saturday 25 September to Sunday 3 October 2004
Play: Rounds 1-8 - 1.30 to 8.30pm. Round 9 - 10.30am to 5.30pm
Rate of play: 40 moves in 2 hours, 20 moves in 1 hour, all the moves in 30 minutes
